Lowered Admission Standards in Division I Schools
Are Directly Related to Power, Money & Control!
Bubbha Thomas was an invited author to speak at the National Association of Colored People (NAACP)’s 97th Annual Convent ion held in Detroit, Michigan. Comments from a letter send to Thomas by Julian Bond, Chairman, NAACP Chairman, NAACP Board of Director, "You should be commended for your foresight in addressing this vexing problem ”
Questions are raised.
"America and our elected officials would never stand by and allow the United States’ military to operate an affirmative action program like the one NCAA has operated in favor of Division I institutions for the past forty plus years."
This must be addressed
"Focusing upon the social and academic disenfranchisement of African American athletes and non-athletes, Bubbha Thomas unravels the racial paradigm that permeates the National Collegiate Athletic Association." - Thomas Meloncon
"One must keep watch along the borders of darkness and ... attack the trenches of ignorance, striving to conquer the evil powers which are the enemies of youth ... while awakening sleeping spirits ..." - Dr. Henry Van Dyke
Asking the right questions is the only answer
"Sports is a billion dollar industry and college sports is no exception. While Division I universities reap the rewards of major paydays, many have pondered about the actual "product" that is so prevantly displayed on the field." - Minority Executive Report
Lowered admission standards disguised as affirmative action
Black athletes made history and drew fans despite aggressive color barriers.
"The history of blacks in American sports is practically as old as the sports themselves ..."
- Ebony Magazine, August 1972
Bubbha Thomas is awakening sleeping spirits
"Admissions policy states that the policy of competitve admission shall not prevent the admission of selected applicants who meet the criteria and who gives evidence of possessing special talents for university programs requiring such special talents."
John Zhu — Daily Tar Heel
